One of the really big points in favor of Quadra Alea Condos is the walking distance to Playa del Carmen’s Fifth Avenue. As I’ve mentioned before, the complex is also a beautiful oasis of green space and quiet in the heart of downtown; today let’s take a look at the downtown part of this – especially Little Italy, the part of Fifth Avenue closest to Quadra Alea.
Walking from Quadra Alea, you can get to Fifth Avenue – the Little Italy part of it – in about 5 minutes, walking comfortably. Little Italy was built up and given its character by Playa del Carmen’s large Italian community, second only to Americans in number.
During the day, the street is lively and colorful – the perfect place to enjoy an Italian gelato or nice lunch. During the night, it is lit by lanterns and offers a romantic atmosphere where everyone seems to be relaxed, and music can be heard.
Other than gelaterias, there are very good Italian restaurants, cafes, cigar shops, bars, shoe stores, boutiques with clothing and accessories and much more. It is a great place to go for dinner, have a snack, shop, or just walk around “window shopping†and enjoying the views. Relaxing on one of the benches is also a very pleasant way to spend an evening.
Of course,it’s not all Italian. There are plenty of Mexican restaurants and shops, and even more flavor is added by interesting finds like Argentinian grills, or Thai pasta restaurants.
We can’t forget that only a couple blocks from Little Italy on Fifth Avenue are the world’s finest beaches; one of the closest beaches is home to the trendy Mamitas Beach Club, one of the favorites in the region, and host to the annual Riviera Maya Jazz Festival (coming up in a month and a half.)
Little Italy and Fifth Avenue in Playa del Carmen are lively and moving, yet tasteful and romantic. Quadra Alea offers the ideal quiet oasis only steps away from this unique part of the Mexican Caribbean.
