If you had turned down a street into this neighborhood about 5 years ago, you would have probably glanced around a bit, turned around and headed back downtown. It certainly wasn’t dangerous or dirty, but also not interesting or even picturesque or quaint.
The neighborhood, called Zazil Ha, was defined by small, single-story working-class row houses.
Some of those houses have now been upgraded into comfortable homes with a quaint Mexican style. Others – the majority, it now seems -are being transformed into nice, new trendy Playa del Carmen condos for sale.  Zazil Ha is currently the hub of the transformation of Playa del Carmen’s north end.
