We always tell buyers not to get to hung up on buying directly on the beachfront. There are excellent homes and condos for sale in Playa del Carmen, just a little back from the beach and the price difference is significant.
Tom and the others always point out that we’re talking about a 10 – 15 minute walk. For most people, it’s well worth the savings – after all you’re still living so close to the world’s nicest beaches.
But, If You Really Want It …
Today, I’m going to bend the opinion back the other way a little, with a little but important reminder:
If life directly on the beachfront is what you really want, if you want to get up, and have coffee in your pyjamas on your balcony overlooking the most pristine turquoise beaches to be found, if you want to walk out your front door and feel the sand in your toes, then it’s very much within reach.
“It just feels so right …”
I’m writing this post today because a couple of days ago I was chatting with a friend of ours – actually a past client who bought through us … we’ve found some wonderful friendships this way! She and her husband had bought a condo right on the beach.
They went through that whole question of “Should we save that 50 grand and go a few blocks back?” (I don’t remember if it was really 50 grand, but just for a number …)
They decided to go for it.
Yes, they had to work through the budget a bit more. Yes, there were been plenty of things they could’ve done with that much extra cash. But when I asked her about it now, she said:
“It just feels so right!”
No regrets. They traded off some extra traveling or a new car for the pleasure of having the world’s nicest beach as their front yard, and they feel it’s worth it.
And for you? It might be. You can see prices here.
Not For Everyone
As Tom and the others always point out, this choice is not for everyone. Some people simply aren’t in position to pay out that extra cash. Others would rather get a property that’s that much nicer or larger a few blocks back.
But the point is: if you want to live right on the beach – if this is important for your lifestyle, and you’re willing to make that trade-off – in Playa del Carmen, it’s within reach!
