While it is natural to want to get away to a warm destination during the colder months there are many great reasons to pack your bags and head to the Caribbean during the summer and early fall. And with the main perk being lower prices. It is a bit surprising to me that more people aren’t heading out here during low season!
Or are they? Playa del Carmen does see many travelers during the low season months and to those people it’s like their own little secret since the rest of the world hasn’t caught on yet. So what is the big secret? These low season travelers are getting the biggest bang for their buck on everything from airfare to their strawberry-banana smoothie! And as an added bonus they get to enjoy their vacation without crowds of people, waiting in line for restaurants, or missing the early rush for beach chairs!
But I don’t want to travel during hurricane season!
What if there’s a hurricane?
The chances of a hurricane to come sweeping along to ruin your vacation are very rare. It is not reason enough to turn down a cheaper more peaceful vacation because maybe a storm will brew up. A good suggestion would be to purchase travel insurance in the event that Mother Nature has brought us an unforeseen event. People seem to think that low season is a direct result of hurricane season when in fact it’s just more due to the fact that people want to travel to warm destinations only during their winter months. So if your concern is the weather consider a change of heart.
Do you own a home or are considering buying real estate in Mexico?
Many people buy homes in Mexico to use during their winter vacations but also with the intention of earning rental income. While you can still do both at the same time you should consider the peak season for renting out your property and when you are able to get the most out of your investment. Consider traveling and enjoying your home in the low season months so that you can take advantage of high season occupancy and rental rates. Check out this page for some great investment opportunities.
(The low season also happens to be a good time to search for real estate, when fewer buyers are searching!)
