I would like to end the week in a light way by sharing a story of a dear friend of mine about life in Tulum! In a light hearted way she gives real life expression about the beauty of Tulum and the desire to perhaps one day make it her home. Enjoy!
“Every time I go to Tulum I get amazed in a different way. My first visit to Tulum was about 2 and a half years ago for a weekend trip. Now since having moved to Playa del Carmen I have made it a point to get out to Tulum every so often to escape. Yes, even when you already live in paradise sometimes you need to escape.
It’s amazing how a 40 minute drive can make you feel like you have jumped on an airplane to arrive to a completely different place on earth.
I spent the entire day on the beach enjoying the day with my husband, talking, and forgetting about everything I had to do at home. At some point during the day we were visited by a local dog who came to greet us and ask for attention. We ate good food, drank a beer, swam and let the sun have its way!
I live in Playa del Carmen and I love Playa because I need movement and convenience. When I lived in the United States I never imagined myself living anywhere that does not have a CVS pharmacy any more than 5 minutes away from my home. For this reason Playa fits my lifestyle quite well, but there is really something to be said about Tulum and the so called magic it has.
This most recent visit to Tulum was the first time I said to myself…What if I could live here? It’s the same question that I said to myself about Playa del Carmen right before I made the leap to make it happen!
I am intrigued about the development of Aldea Zama because I feel it is going to have a soft but strong impact on life in Tulum, combining the peaceful essence it already maintains, while integrating modern living and new lifestyle and retail choices.
While it is all speculation at this point I don’t believe that the addition of Aldea Zama will have any impact on the laid back bohemian lifestyle or ecological preservation of Tulum. In fact, I think that the project is designed to embrace it!
When you consider developments like Holistika Tulum which are literally fusing modern living together with nature, you have to just be Wow’d at the fact that this can even be done! There are definitely some creative thinkers behind the scenes making the combination for such an inspired lifestyle.
Tulum is more than just an archeological site and excursion….
For people who have never been to Tulum the town is mostly associated with the famous archeological site and Mayan Ruins, but nobody really knows the sheer beauty and feeling of the town until you have been!
The town center is small but has just about everything you need with delicious restaurant selections, small shops, cafes, a couple local bars, small hotels, dive shops and tour agencies, and even a hospital and grocery store nearby.
Tulum is a classic setting for one of my favorite Kenny Chesney songs… “No shoes, no shirt, no problems!â€Â Because Tulum is just that, laid back, grab a drink, and just let everything go away!
And the beach! The beach is just precious! What more can I say?
I feel lucky and privileged that my life is enhanced by so much beauty surrounding me! It is for sure that my life and my heart will forever belong to the Riviera Maya. It is a place you can be free to live your life, to be happy, and to see a world outside of what you are used to every day.
Maybe one day Tulum will be my stomping ground but for now, I love knowing that this paradise does not require a plane, it’s just a short drive away!â€
And that is why we work every day to make dreams happen!
