A couple of days ago while reading Forbes Magazine Mexico I stumbled upon a story that cought my attention; it was the story of Miguel Quintana Pali, a Mexican visionary if you like and probably one of the first people who saw the value on investing on a property a little further away from the beach.
The path towards discovery
It all started by accident in 1984 when he found a lonely little place where he wanted to build a small house; once he bought the place and started working on it he discovered archaeological Mayan remains, caves, an underground river and cenotes. While cleaning the lot up he found more and more incredible things and thought of building an ecological and archaeological theme park.
It’s been 30 years since that very first discovery and now you and I have been able to enjoy all of the theme parks under the name of Experiencias Xcaret; which is a role model in business in the Riviera Maya and Yucatan Peninsula, and up to this date Miguel Quintana Pali owns about a hundred of these sinkholes within the area.
Another case very close to home would be that of Sac Be Village. This eco-friendly community is a little bit deeper in the jungle and has Playa del Carmen lots for sale where it´s residents have built incredible homes using the natural resources of the like the wood from the different trees and stone from the area, recycling water, installing solar panels and building greenhouses plus the local craftsmanship can be seen, touched and felt in each and every one of the absolutely gorgeous and incredible homes that can be found there.
What about Lots closer to downtown Playa del Carmen?
At this point, we all know that Playa del Carmen real estate has been booming for over 15 years, this trend may not be as dramatic as it was a few years ago but is still going strong, with little room to grow next to the beach and people looking for more tranquil areas, gated communities such as El Cielo and Valle Bambu are experiencing a boost within the local expat residents of Playa del Carmen.
El Cielo Residencial has been growing over the years with highly successful developments such as Viliv, AWA and more recently Hacienda del RÃo Custom Homes has also very affordable and nice size lots of land for those who want to have more privacy and not share common areas or just have an oasis of your own.
On the other side, in the south-west end of Playa del Carmen the community of Valle Bambu is rising. This area is steadily becoming the newest upscale neighborhood in town with private and gated complexes like Bambu Residencial and the launch of Bosques de Bambu; a place where families have plenty of room to grow and an enormous return of investment in years to come.
So, if you thought that the real estate market inland of Playa del Carmen was running out of options, think twice, because either if you look for a lot big enough to accommodate your dream home or you have a bigger picture in mind in terms of investment; the options are still out there, make sure your Mexico trusted agent has all the information on what you want and need from your new property in Paradise, because you never know if you will be the next cenote collector.
