Cosmo defines Yoga as “… the physical, mental, and spiritual practices or disciplines which aim at transforming body and mind.â€Â Now I know that Cosmo isn’t the authority on Yoga. And I know some of you are even cringing at the very thought of even mentioning the two in the same sentence.
However, in this case,I think the foremost leader of useless knowledge on the World Wide Web has it defined quite correctly.
But to understand it, practice it and, most importantly, achieve it is another thing all together.
For centuries many civilizations, in their own unique way, have tried to achieve this almost unattainable balance of clarity, inner peace and unshakable focus and center.
To become “one†with ones’ surrounding, the universe and with others, an aspiring practitioner need only truly understand that the mind, body and spirit and interlinked and that the three create a symbiotic circle; that is, what affects one, will most certainly affect the others.Â
In an age of cell phones, computers, the world wide web and immediate satisfaction, the idea that one person, one idea, one belief , through calm, clarity and inner peace can become the building block of the community, the region or even the world in which we live a better place as a whole, can be thought of as far-fetched.. Even Ludacris.  But it is not
Just ask Martin Luther King, Caesar Chavez or Gandhi
“Those of us who are crazy enough to think we can change the world… USUALLY DO!
Not so crazy anymore huh?
Now I’m here to tell you, from someone who know no peace, is a stranger to “calm†and the antithesis of what people would call “small personalityâ€â€¦ I have found absolute, undeniable and immeasurable value in meditation; one of the most treasured aspect of the Yoga Philosophy.
And I suck at it.
But I don’t start me day without it.
Somehow, someway, I, and many others who attempt these ancient practices of achieving the harmony between mind, body and soul is in a pursuit to achieve never-ending quest of the unattainable… and I love it. Because like with anything in life, it is the journey that is of value, not the destination! It’s not where you start it’s where you’re at! And most importantly and prophetically, it’s not who you were, ITS WHO YOU ARE! Today, here, right now!
Now no greater philosophy, practice or belief better embodies this better than Yoga. And the Riviera Maya, a no better place to find it; or more accurately, look for it.
With an incredibly large community of spirituality seeker in the Riviera Maya, the cities of Tulum, Playa Del Carmen and Akumal are a “Mecca†of this exciting, and still misunderstood, belief system.
If clarity, happiness and peace is what you seek, then the properties of Eden Zama and Hacienda Del Rio are the places for you to balance that chakra of yours.
A friend once told me that “… when you pray, you talk and God listens. But when you meditate, God talks and you listen.â€
There are worse ways to spend your time, don’t you think?
