Attractions in The Riviera Maya
The Yucatan Peninsula’s Riviera Maya has countless attractions that the entire family will enjoy. There are plenty of archeological sites, cenotes, and a variety of eco-friendly parks to explore. Besides, the Riviera Maya is an ecological wonderland with all its tropical terrain and Caribbean shoreline. Also, it prides itself on having numerous preserves and nature-oriented activity parks within its broad touristy domain. There are places like Xel ha – an eco-friendly water park that has a variety of aquatic attractions, and Punta Venado – offers an unspoiled beach and a variety of tours to choose from.
New Eco-tourism Park
There is talk about the possibility of building a new eco-tourism park south of Playa del Carmen and near the Xpu-ha community. Likewise, Grupo Xcaret also built other eco-friendly parks like Xcaret, Xplor and many others. With Mexico’s aggressive push towards Manifestation of Environmental Impact (MIA), the developer will construct in and around the natural terrain and gorgeous landscape. Besides, they will implement a biodigester, energy-efficient generators, and other resources that will pose little to no harm to the environment.
Amenities
The proposed park will offer hiking & biking trails, zip lines, snorkeling in freshwater cenotes, and points of interest to name only a few of the exciting attractions. Other amenities will include the following:
- Bathrooms and dressing facilities.
- Shops that offer a variety of handcrafted gifts and souvenirs.
- A restaurant that will offer food and refreshments.
- Common areas with palapas and seating.
- Transportation from the parking lot to the park entrance.
The Yucatan Peninsula is becoming a leader in preserving our natural resources and at the same time, showcasing its beauty for all to experience.
When visiting the Peninsula and all its touristy areas, try to be very conscious of your surroundings. Moreover, please remember to stay on marked trails and pathways. Take time to observe all posted signs that provide specific instructions regarding wildlife and terrain. And most of all, respect the landscape and its natural beauty by ‘not’ leaving trash behind. Once the environment has been exposed to contamination, the chances are that it will never return to its original state.
The earth was created for all to enjoy. Let’s keep it that way!
