We all know that the world changes every year, and as time continues, they occur at a faster rate. The human being adapts to new technologies on an annual and quarterly basis that introduce innovations that make our lives more efficient. Also, they are implemented in almost all aspects of our lives. As well as the growth continues, and we continue to invade more corners of the natural world. Therefore, we, as human beings, also create new obstacles and dangers to our environment and ourselves. So, our lives in the future, as it appears, will be one of the changes. They will be consistent and at a more rapid rhythm, forcing us to adapt to new systems and processes.Â
For example, the present coronavirus pandemic is a worldwide game-changer. A new obstacle that will require that nearly all people adjust their personal lifestyles. Also, habits that will require almost all industries to make adjustments in their ways of doing business or what they produce. In my industry, that being of real estate, and more precisely Mexico real estate, the adjustments fascinate me as I see that my team and myself can bring some incredibly useful innovations to the new demands from the market. Â
How is the demand in Mexico real estate going to change during and after the coronavirus obstacles?Â
The recent coronavirus outbreak was first detected around seven months ago in China. It has brought many new questions in our thoughts as we are working from home. A popular question I am sure many of you are pondering is: “how are my routines going to change after this pandemic ends?” During these seven months, the whole world has made drastic changes to avoid getting infected. Nonetheless, we will have to be more prepared for the future, as the same coronavirus may return in the colder months, or new viruses may emerge.
As I work on future projects of residential and community designs for retiring Americans and Canadians here in Mexico, our team has considered the most significant changes that a community of the future must include in order to offer safer and more comfortable environments for its residents.Â
New Layouts Designed to Improve Health
We know that health is essential. Still, sometimes we forget how important it is to have a daily routine. Experts say that we need at least 30 minutes of exercise a day to have good health.
A community of the future must feature walking trails. This is one of the simplest forms of exercise and one of the healthiest. It will allow the residents to enjoy walking or running outdoors and having fresh air. These are essential elements that have become more obvious in the past several months.Â
Along with this important amenity, a community of the future must include a gym. The design of these areas designated for exercising will have enough ventilation and space so the residents can continue their routines without increasing contamination risks. The gyms will have all the basic equipment for essential routines. The equipment will not be public and only be shared with other residents of the private community, and there will be high disinfection standards.
Not Only in the Community but in your Home Too
Although the walking trails and gym are an essential part of the community of the future, a designated area for exercising at home is important. This could include a small room or an open area for a treadmill, stationary bicycle, or stair climber. Also, in case of having a swimming pool at home, it will be great to adapt an aquatic resistance belt to practice efficient and long-distance swimming routines.Â
Exercising at home will be one of the best ways to improve your health instead of going to a public place. Yet, it will be necessary to contact a good trainer so he or she can provide a good exercise routine that is adequate to the resident’s particular needs and limitations.
Let’s remember how essential it is to have a healthy body and exercise, since any virus, such as COVID-19, affect mostly unhealthy people.Â
Deliveries Will Not Be as Before
One of the most common changes we’ve witnessed during the actual pandemic is the increase in delivery services. However, there has to be a lot of caution since viruses and bacteria can still be easily transferred in many viruses, such as the coronavirus experience.Â
Most of us will continue using delivery services as a parallel option of keeping going to public areas. It will be very important to have a special area for packages, including food deliveries. It will be as simple as putting the delivery in a clean surface, a glass separator with as little as possible contact with the delivery person, and an area for disinfecting the packages.
Once the package goes through this filter of the community, the resident can pick it up from the main gate and bring it into their house. This way, there will be less risk of contracting any virus with such infrastructures and processes available. Delivery services will definitely be an excellent option to avoid going outside unless it is very necessary for strict lockdowns.Â
Visits to the Doctor will be Through TeleVisits
As we mentioned before, preventive health is becoming more and more important. Thus, monthly check-ups with nutritionists, dentists, geriatricians, and others, will be a must.
In the communities of the future, it won’t be necessary to visit the doctor in their consulting room. A community of the future will have a special area where the residents can have routine check-ups with their doctor. Here, there will be a large screen, excellent internet connection, and a microphone to have digital appointments with the doctor. Once the check-up is complete, the doctor can define if a physical visit is necessary.Â
On the other hand, a personal nurse will visit you at home whenever it is required to check on your vital signs, take blood samples to check on cholesterol, sugar, blood pressure, to name a few. Also, such nurses will give the residents diets depending on the results and needs. This will improve the health of the residents and strengthen their immune system so people can become healthier and more prepared to defeat any disease.
The communities of the future are not very far from today’s reality. COVID-19 and other contagious diseases will bring new changes to which we will need to adapt. Many of these changes will benefit our health and security. We consider these features very important and easy to adapt to the communities of the future and here in Mexico.
What other features and amenities would you add to the community of the future? We would love to hear your opinion!
