Internet is evidently the first step for buying your house long distance in Mexico. Looking where to buy a home or condo or where to put that investment money is not easy. Less if you do it from one city to the next, or from one country to another. You may ask yourself, is it wise to hire a local agent?

More important than choosing and losing the time to find the right property, first you need to create a great team that will make you thousands of dollars either through savings on the purchase price or the appreciation.

It all starts with hiring a local agent. Each real estate region or, more precisely, every neighborhood has different factors that determine the price and appreciation potential.

Having one agent knowledgeable about selling something in one city is tough. But having an agency that dominates a specific town or neighborhood, that’s what you need to spend time on finding. Buying your house long distance will be fun.

Where do I start?

Start finding an agent or agency before you invest so much time into comparing or making your list. Work smart, find an agency and have that agent listen to your wish list, then he can go out and start looking for options for you. Do a good interview by phone call, email, or text.

First, you have to know what will be the best neighborhood that fits your lifestyle, your dream, what you’re looking for. Also, sometimes we have to make some adjustments because of the price budget. Maybe you can’t get everything on your wishlist, but perhaps if you get 90% or 80%, you might be delighted.

Should I make a trip to see the properties?

 Yes, just because it’s a fun process and coming down to visit and see these different homes or even to see the views is a huge plus. You must feel that vibe and walk the neighborhood.

Also, see if the restaurants, the cafes, and the pubs around the area give you a good vibe. A feeling of what it will be like living in the neighborhood.

With the technology today, it is incredible. First photos and there are videos. Now there are even electronic digital walkthroughs that help a lot. And don’t forget there are also the live video chat tours that our agents would love to do. They even could do a video themselves and send it to you. And all of this is available at your fingertips.

However, nothing is more fun than coming down to Mexico. You have an excuse to come down to the nice weather, beaches, and mountains. To come and visit, explore, and enjoy. Most buyers know this is just part of the journey, and it’s a lot of fun.

To conclude, when you have a good agent, he does all the legwork. He is the one who has the stress of setting up appointments on the agenda, visiting four or five different properties. And all you have to do is enjoy, jump in the car, sit back, ask all your questions and take it in.
