Local Sundays In Playa del Carmen

Filed Under: Living and Retirement

We all love traveling to different countries and exploring life like the locals. In Playa del Carmen especially, the locals play a big role in this quaint beach town. If you’ve been to Playa del Carmen before, you know exactly what we are talking about and just how amazing it really is. Sundays in this town are when most of the locals get a break from the workweek. This means that they can take their families to the beach and enjoy some time to themselves. As you are aware of, here in Mexico people work very hard and they, in fact, deserve one day off per week, as does the rest of the world. This day happens to be Sunday.

Local Sundays in Playa del Carmen

The locals here in Playa del Carmen use Sunday as a day of rest and relaxation. This might include going to the supermarket to stock up on food for their families for the week or doing laundry. This might also include spending the day at the beach – usually not the same beach the tourists go to but some might wonder there too! The locals in Playa del Carmen are very welcoming and very friendly. Don’t feel nervous to engage in fun activities with locals. In fact, that’s how you learn where the best restaurants are and the hidden beaches in the area.

Visit the Mayan Ruins

One must-do activity that many locals do on Sunday is visiting the Mayan Ruins. They go on Sundays because it is their day-off and it is free for them if thew show their ID to demonstrate their nationality. Visiting the Mayan Ruins is a fun activity to do with your family and an educational one to boot. Although, if you are considering to visit the Mayan Ruins, we highly recommend to always bring some water, sunscreen and comfortable clothing.

Sunday = Family Day

In Mexico, people pick Sundays to go to the movies. In fact, you should go to a movie on Sunday and you will see how families enjoy getting together to watch some great movies. You will experience so much love, and see something you have never seen before. Depending on the weather, this is a popular attraction when it is raining or too hot to stand. When the weather is sunny and beautiful, many locals like to visit a cenote with their families. Don’t worry you don’t have to be a local to visit a cenote on Sunday. However, depending on the cenote you want to visit, it might get crowded.

Once you decide to live in Playa del Carmen, you will see how great Sundays are and all the amazing activities this beautiful city has to offer.
