One of the great things about the Riviera Maya is the openness people and businesses have with pets. The old idea of having to leave your pet at home while you’re out having fun is no longer a norm in the area. We must warn you, though, that beaches have a strict no-pet policy throughout the region put forth by Zofemat (the Federal Maritime Land Zone). However, the Riviera Maya is an animal-loving region, and if you’re traveling from abroad with your pet or are living here, there are many places you will find offer animal access. These are just a few of the best pet-friendly places in the region.
Fifth Avenue: The Most Pet-Friendly Street
Of course Fifth Avenue would be on this list! The 2.5-mile pedestrian street is a great place to take a stroll with your dog. It’s pet-friendly because it’s an open space, but you definitely should have your dog on a leash to prevent them running off into non-pet-friendly stores or restaurants. Many cafés and restaurants have terraces where you can sit and enjoy drinks or food with your best furry friend. Ah Cacao is a great place for coffee with dogs, and La Casa de la Cerveza is perfect for an artisanal beer alongside your pets.
