The Riviera Maya Jazz Festival is an annual music venue that first started in 2003. The Riviera Maya Jazz Festival 2019 is free for general admission. However, there is a VIP area of sorts and has a nominal admission fee of $18 pesos or an approximately one-US dollar per person. This closed-off area is usually less crowded and provides an up-close view of the entertainers.
An event like this attracts thousands of people. Past festival officials have estimated somewhere between 10,000 to 15,000 people in attendance each day. Therefore, your best chance to get a spot as close to the stage as possible is to arrive early. Make sure there are at least three or more people in your party. Nonetheless, if you leave your spot for any reason, you will lose it.
If you manage to get upfront in any of the areas, bring your folding chairs, blankets, and small umbrellas for shade. This particular section is the only place where you can sit or lie down. Everyone in the sections behind you will be standing for most of the concert. The organizers do allow the attendees to bring snacks and beverages.
