Mexico real estate industry has come a long way from Tony Cohan’s tale described in his late 1980’s book, “On Mexican Time.” He then explained that he needed to travel to Mexico with 60,000 USD in a paper bag to purchase a property.
Today, transactions are more sophisticated. Most foreigners use escrow companies or bank trust and have minimal risk compared to my first real estate transactions in 2006.
However, the best advice I can give any first-time buyer is to work with a professional agency. Also, to make sure the agency has a proven track record, are updated on the current laws, and can make sure your interests are protected. Working with the right agency will eliminate any risk of a bad transaction.
Buying San Miguel Allende real estate is a fairly straightforward process. This is due to the several laws, rules, and regal procedures which govern the process. However, you will end up with a more pleasurable experience if you work with a reputable agency. A professional real estate company will be up-to-date on the current procedures. They will also know who’s assistance to seek each potential problem.
