Architecture, Art and Culture

The city’s cleanliness is astonishing. Since Unesco declared it a World Heritage Site in 2008, the government has issued some regulations. These regulations have no other reason but to maintain the facades of the buildings in an excellent shape. Hence, the colors of the buildings are in neutral tones so you can experience the sense of being transported to the old Mexico.

Apart from the nearby fun things to do, the city is also full of architecture, history, and art. One example of this beautiful architecture is the Parroquia of San Miguel. It was remodeled in 1880 with this new Gothic style that reminds us of Medieval Europe.

San Miguel has also become popular because it is an artsy city. It has more than 100 hundred galleries and schools of art. After WWII, the Government of the US created a scholarship fund for the veterans to come to San Miguel de Allende, so it has been a sanctuary for many artists.
