Recently, Cozumel’s mayor, Aurelio Joaquin Gonzalez, accompanied by the director general of the National Fund for Tourism Development (Fonatur), Enrique Carrillo Lavat, toured and monitored the progress of work in the Cozumel, a project that will give a new perspective to tourism island and that is a sign of progress; such large-scale tourism infrastructure is always a good sign for Cozumel real estate as well on numerous levels.
The project has been funded by Federal, State and Municipal governments.
The project is also in full compliance with environmental legislation and works well with a current state program to promote a green Quintana Roo (the state where Cozumel is located.)
The Marina has several features, including dry marina, fueling station, service area, residential areas and hotels. The marina will be cutting edge, and it is considered the most important tourist investment project in the history of the island and one of the most significant in the state (which includes Cancun.)
The Cozumel Marina is a project being carried out by Fonatur and is receiving major investment. It is expect to be a major trigger for tourism on the island, and help position the island’s tourism internationally.   For real estate buyers this is excellent news; besides the service of the marina for boat lovers, more tourism means more investment, more services and more activities.
The marina’s residential area is also bringing new options for upscale real estate in a nice setting on Mexico’s most attractive island.
As per plans, the marina should begin partial operations shortly and will highlight the advantages of the island, drawing new tourism and new investment.
