Playa del Carmen Real Estate – Want to Make a Difference in Your Community? These Canadians Did!

Filed Under: Living in Mexico, Mexico Communities, Playa del Carmen Real Estate

As expats, most of us buy Mexico real estate to live a better life at a lower cost.  Yet, at the same time, most of us look for ways to make life better for those around us, and often a great way to do this is by helping out our less fortunate neighbors; doing this can both build participation and reinforce the excellent impression which our Mexican hosts (speaking in the broader sense) have of us as expats enjoying the benefits of their country.

This is exactly what a group of young Canadians recently did in school in Playa del Carmen.  A group of high-school students from Quebec got together and made a trip down here to Playa del Carmen to participate in renovating one of the local public schools.

The school is “Miguel Hidalgo” Elementary School, located in the subdivision called “Mision del las Flores,” and the event to place on April 21st.  They helped to paint the classrooms and gave school books as well as Canada paraphernalia such as t-shirts and hats for the students of this elementary school.  The Canadian students were welcomed and thanked by members of the municipal government.

I’m proud of my fellow Canadians who made the effort to come all the way down here just to help other students who have fewer resources available to them.

Activities like this show that there are plenty of ways for Playa del Carmen real estate owners to get involved and make a difference.  Tom here at the office likewise participates by volunteering  with the local kids softball team.  I’ve seen other Americans and Canadians participate in recycling programs and other events. It’s a great way to be involved; it makes us part of a community, together with the local Mexican nationals and expats from around the world!
