Living on Mexico’s beautiful beaches is not a lifestyle; it is dozens of different lifestyles that just happen to share these very important common factors. In addition to the four lifestyles described in yesterday’s post (Living on Mexico’s Beachfront – Choosing Real Estate for a Lifestyle – Part I) the following are a few others you might consider.
Â
Boat Lover
Boat lovers are enthralled by the fact that there are marina communities, like Puerto Aventuras real estate, where they can moor their boat literally at their doorstep and head out fishing or sailing whenever they want. Let’s be honest – the property is almost an afterthought, just a base to stay at while waiting to go out to sea again; yet, these properties sure are beautiful for being an afterthought on a lifestyle …
Villages
Beachfront villages like Progreso (near Merida in the Yucatan real estate area) or Mahahual (Costa Maya real estate, 4 hours south of Cancun) offer a balance of a quiet lifestyle where people know all their neighbors and still offering basic services. Nature is always close at hand. Those who prefer the home-town feel with a handful of regulars as close friends will often choose this kind of location.
Eco Towns
Tulum real estate is the famous eco-town of Mexico’s Caribbean, where business, tourism and growth go hand in hand with preserving the surrounding nature, and working for sustainable development. The nearby beachfront village of Akumal highlights this aspect of life very strongly. Another example is the island of Cozumel, where 75% of the island is currently protected nature.
Out in the Bush
Some people, whether for vacationing or as their permanent home, actually prefer to be surrounded entirely by untouched nature. Many such homes are off-the-grid, relying on alternative energy and residents can really be in touch with nature on another level. In addition to many locations on Cozumel, much of the area between Tulum and Mahahual is similar to this, especially the large biosphere reserve called Sian Kaan where development is very limited and there are tight restrictions on how much of the bush must be left standing.
Of course, this is just a very general overview of some of the most common choices. Each one of these has variations, and each specific location has its unique character.  Of course, there also others we don’t mention. Take some time and discover your dream lifestyle on Mexico’s beachfront!
