As a new year begins, many people are looking for a good way to start things off on the right foot, fulfilling resolutions, or finally just taking those steps to make their life what they’ve wanted to for years already. Of course, Playa del Carmen real estate offers a good means for many people to make their plans, resolutions and dreams a reality.
A question that must be asked at this point is this: Is a property in Playa del Carmen best primarily for investment or for pleasure? Real life stories and the market situation show us that the answer is “both,” often even at the same time.

One couple that I know of on an average income has invested into several condos down here. They started off buying a condo slightly back from the beach (to fit it into their budget more easily); they rented it out long-term for a steady income which covered the expenses and even part of the payments.
Their focus has been investment, so when the come down to visit, they travel light with backpacks and stay in one of the affordable, but nicely kept up hotels in the downtown area. The income they’ve seen from renting out has allowed them to buy a couple more condos.
The bottom line: Once they retire they’ll be set.
This is only one approach to investment. There are beachfront condos with vacation rental management, lots for sale, fixer-uppers, high-potential homes in gentrifying communities, pre-construction discounts and low-priced new communities that promise to take off in the near future, all pointing to different investment styles for different needs.

The stories of those who have bought a property simply to enjoy a better lifestyle are innumerable. Many people have bought for retirement, allowing themselves to enjoy very comfortable living within their budget, for vacations, always having a property in paradise any time they want it, or to re-locate, starting their dream business and choosing life in paradise before retirement.
In a way, this is also an investment, since those choosing to live in Mexico enjoy a lower cost of living, not to mention the health benefits of a more relaxed lifestyle.
The Best of Both
An option with growing appeal is that of combining investment and pleasure. Many buyers will invest in land and have their dream home built to live in and enjoy, knowing at the same time that the final value will be more than what they invested into it. Others will buy in a condo hotel, using the property for their own vacations several times a year.
Those who own a vacation condo or home in a good location will hire a property management company to rent it out when they are not using it. In all cases, the pleasure of enjoying a dream property near Playa del Carmen’s beaches is combined with generating income or seeing increased value.
Whether your New Year’s resolution is to save money, increase your income, make a good investment, relax more or be healthier, the idea of buying a property in Playa del Carmen is, at the very least, worth considering.
