Wrought Iron Adds Visual Strength and Elegant Contrast to Hacienda del Rio

Filed Under: El Cielo Residential, Hacienda del Rio, Living and Retirement, Mexico Colonial Real Estate, Mexico Gated Communities

Iron itself is usually not considered a beautiful thing; yet, as soon as a skilled craftsman leaves his mark on it, wrought iron becomes one of the most beautiful parts of a well-designed home.

The architects of Mexico’s colonial era knew this.  So do present-day Mexicans, and so do the people who designed and planned Hacienda del Rio, a comfortable, modern retirement and residential complex in Playa del Carmen, which was inspired by colonial concepts.

Of all the Playa del Carmen homes for sale these days, Hacienda del Rio is unique in its elegant combination of modern comfort with colonial charm.

Last week we looked at the stonework in Hacienda del Rio.  This week, let’s explore what the wrought iron adds to the visual appeal of the complex:

Visual strength – Like stone, iron is a visually strong element, with the difference that it can be shaped more readily, combining art and craftsmanship with physical strength.  Wrought iron gates, window ornaments and the like offer an atmosphere of permanence and timelessness.

Elegant contrast – The black paint and carefully formed lines of iron contrast both to the bright colors of Mexican colonial walls (another element used Hacienda del Rio) as well to the more pure natural strength of stonework.  It offers a kind of visual border defining “softer” items more clearly.

Practicality & durability – Iron is easy to maintain, requiring only its regular coat of paint, and is very durable.  It is one of the most ideal balances between visual appeal and practicality.

The wrought iron is most certainly one of the elements that you can look most forward to seeing in Hacienda del Rio.  Every Wednesday we will explore a different aspect of colonial design that has been incorporated into this beautiful new retirement community in Playa del Carmen.
