Snowbird Season Again – Why is Everyone Retiring in Mexico for the Winter?

Filed Under: Mexican Retirement Communities, Mexico Land, Mexico Retirement, Mexico Retirement communities

Have you ever noticed that, while back home, you’re getting ready for the winter, watching the first snowfall, getting out the shovels, you see the neighbors, like you, storing away the lawn chairs and the barbeque, but unlike you, packing their bags to head south?

What lure does a Mexico retirement community hold anyway?

Seeing the first snowflakes fall probably feels romantic for the first five minutes, until you actually have to go outside, and you’re reminded of how cold the snow is.

Besides escaping from the cold, owning a Mexico home for your retirement winters holds plenty of other advantages.

A few possible examples are a sandy beachfront or a beautiful lake surrounded by forested hills.  There are also many nearby sights to see, and a good deal of nature to experience.  For those who love golfing or sailing, there couldn’t be a better place to spend the winters.   Mexico’s amazing history and culture also provide many things to do, ranging from visiting colonial cities to enjoying Mariachi music, or traditional Mexican food.

On top of the culture and nature, Mexico has come a long way over the past few decades, and now offers many modern conveniences and services.  These include everything from shopping centers to modern hospitals, which offer health care at a fraction of the cost in the U.S.

Many soon-to-be retirees are also thinking ahead.  Some are buying condos or homes to enjoy during the winter holidays.  Others are buying Mexico land to build for their retirement.  There are many property styles, and even more different areas to choose from, so you won’t be at a loss to find something that suits your tastes.

So, don’t you think it’s time to forget about the snow shovels and winter tires, and start heading south with your neighbors?
