Until now Mexico has had almost no regulations on who can act as a real estate agent, but things are changing this year. The AMPI board has been pushing for real estate license requirements in all states and may be well on the way to getting at least half the Mexican states to comply during 2016. AMPI works together with Federal, State and Municipal authorities, proposing new laws and amendments to existing laws and regulations directly related to the Real Estate activity.
AMPI, the Mexican Association of Real Estate Professionals, is the largest real estate association in Mexico. Founded in 1956 in Mexico City, today it has more than 1,500 broker members and 60 regional boards throughout the country. The brokers represent about 10,000 practitioners through the country. They offer courses and certificates, including a professional university degree in Mexico real estate.
This year will see this profession move to a new level as real estate buyer confidence in Mexico and professionalism takes center stage for many realtors during 2016. This means buyers will be able to become new property owners without hassles or hesitation. The association has continued to push for real estate license requirements and wants to be sure that everyone selling real estate meets their business standards. In the rest of the country, there is no regulation of practitioners and any Mexican citizen can promote and offer real estate for sale.
I recently became one of the first people in Quintana Roo to receive a new licensing and regulation accreditation. The state has recently established a new law for real estate agents and companies in order for them to legally sell property in the Riviera Maya and throughout the state of Quintana Roo.  This new regulation is mandatory and will  help regulate the ever popular and growing real estate sector in the state.  This new certification will benefit all present and future clients of Top Mexico and will provide a level of safety and security for all of those who choose to use Top Mexico Real Estate as their representatives here in Mexico.
