Quintana Roo Receives 20 Travelers Choice Awards

The state of Quintana Roo has just won a large number of awards during the recent Mexico Tourism Tianguis 2016 event held in Guadalajara. The state governor Roberto Borge Angulo returned from the event with 20 of TripAdvisor’s Traveller’s Choice 2016 awards. The awards recognized the state for best destinations and best beaches, based on millions of unbiased opinions from global travelers.   

According to the Riviera Maya News, who recently reported the story, Playa del Carmen was awarded first place as the Best Destination In Mexico, with Cancun in second place and Tulum in fifth. Playa del Carmen also ranked 19 out of 25 destinations as one of the very best places to visit in the entire world. That´s some pretty high praise for the place we call home. 

Roberto Borge said “Annually TripAdvisor awards best of the best in the tourism sector in different categories that reflect the positive experiences of tourists who visit destinations in Mexico and the world,”  Quintana Roo had a number of different beaches in the state recognized as being among the world’s very best, as well as several hotels. Playa del Carmen´s Rosewood Mayakoba got the top spot as Best Hotel In Mexico, followed by the Belmond Maroma Resort and Spa in Playa Maroma in second and Secrets Silversands Riviera Cancun in Puerto Morelos took seventh.

According to the Riviera Maya News “In the last five years, Quintana Roo has received around 65 million visitors, generating an enormous economic impact while driving private investments of more than $200 million dollars”. This is great news for those who are looking at the Riviera Maya as a source of investment. With so many people flocking to Cancun, Playa and Tulum the prospects of maintaining high occupancy throughout the year are even better.
