Chemuyil a lovely community

We start our trip to Campeche picking up Bill and Claudia at Chemuyil… this little village is an Expat community. Chemuyil started like a government home-project directed to mid-low income Mexicans that work in the Riviera Maya near Xel-Ha. No one knows why they didn’t have success, but Bill found this project and decided to promote it between expats. This project was very well accepted for Americans, Canadians and some other expats, and after 3 months it was all sold out.

Chemuyil has 3 or 4 streets. The houses originally had one story with 2 bedrooms, but the house foundations let built the second story with no problem. All painted in white, with no grass in the garden and no trees in the streets… Now is a beautiful and color full community. The houses had been arranged: some have a second story, some have a porch, some of them get a Mexican garden with flowers and grass and some other ones have a desert style front yard.

Chemuyil is 15 minutes from the beach, and from a very important Turtle Reserve area in the Riviera Maya.

From my point of view, is a great place to live if you love the nature, the peaceful living and the Caribbean Ocean.
