Besides the popular, modern beachfront areas, another community style of high appeal in Mexico real estate is the country’s classic little towns which preserve a traditional way of life along with local customs, festivals and legends in a way that is “magical;†in fact, Mexico has made “Magical Village†an official recognition which is given to towns which have demonstrated that they do this well, and that these same customs are accessible to tourists. In many cases, being accessible to tourists also makes them and accessible and appealing choice to American and Canadian expats.
Very recently, the town of Loreto in Baja California was named as the country’s 55th officially recognized “Magical Village.â€Â The town’s charm as one of the classic Spanish missions on the old route of the missions through Baja California is part of the visual atmosphere that gained this town the recognition. One of the nice points about Loreto is that it combines Mexico’s old charm with the luxury of a nice beachfront.
Although it is several hours away, it is in the same region of Mexico which has already given expats two wonderful options in La Paz real estate and Cabo real estate; it may very well be a good option for Americans and Canadians to consider. It is the second community in the state of Baja California Sur to gain this recognition, after Todos Santos.
Of the Magical Villages, the following are communities which also show good potential for appeal to American and Canadians considering a move to Mexico:
Patzcuaro – a lakefront village in the Morelia real estate area
Valle de Bravo real estate – A quaint village nestled between a lake and the surrounding hills a few hours away from Mexico City.
Magical Villages are an option that expats moving to Mexico can consider.
