The Yucatan Peninsula has emerged as one of Mexico’s and all of Latin America’s most successful and attractive tourism and expat destination; one reason for this is the broad diversity of styles available within a relatively short distance.  In recent years, a new growing trend is that of ecological Yucatan properties.  Besides allowing buyers to know they are contributing to the protection of this region’s beautiful and unique nature, this new trend offers excellent investment for the following reasons.

Beachfront Locations

A number of ecological properties in the Yucatan area are located directly on the Peninsula’s gorgeous beachfront which many consider to be the most beautiful in the world.  With excellent access by means of two major international airports (Merida and Cancun) and several smaller ones, and a constantly improving highway network, any beachfront on the Yucatan Peninsula promises excellent future value.

Excellent Prize-to-Size Ratio

Since ecological lots tend to be sold in areas where major development has not yet reached (allowing for the full enjoyment and protection of original nature) price per sq. ft. – or, more accurately, price per acre – tends to be very low.  The key is that ecological lots are huge, mostly for the purpose of preserving much of the original nature; other benefits are plenty of privacy and exclusivity.

Very Exclusive Settings

Besides being away from the hustle and bustle of busier tourist towns, ecological lots tend to be in “developments” that include requirements for building ensuring that homes are not only environmentally friendly, but also of tasteful design and construction so as to contribute to the community atmosphere.  This does a great deal for value.

Emergence of Yucatan as one Unified Tourist Region

Although these properties tend to be a little bit off the main track, the Yucatan Peninsula is emerging as an ever more famous and unified tourist and expat region; more and more as time goes on, it is not necessary to name one of the booming centers to add appeal, but only indicate location on or near one of the Peninsula’s beachfronts.

Growing Popularity of Sustainability Worldwide

One of the key points is that sustainability is an idea which is growing worldwide.  More and more real estate buyers are interested to know that the home they are buying has a lower impact on the beautiful nature surrounding it, and that the nature itself has been left intact; many are willing to pay more for this.

This kind of real estate is not only an investment into preserving nature for future generations – an investment worth a good deal on its own – but also a solid financial investment choice.
