Maybe you’ve heard some of the excitement about owning Cancun real estate.  Maybe you’ve wondered if it’s really all it’s cut out to be.  Well, if my humble opinion means anything, I would say that there are a few things you might expect that you won’t find, such as the following.

No High Prices – Prices for real estate in Cancun are low.  Since it’s such a well-established, world-famous tourist destination most people would guess that real estate prices would be accordingly high.  A healthy supply of properties and the low cost of living (see below) have made sellers willing to sell for surprisingly reasonable prices.  So, if you’re looking for highly inflated prices, you may wish to look elsewhere.

No Expensive Living – As mentioned just above, some people might also suspect that since Cancun is America’s favorite vacation spot (backed by statistics!) the costs of enjoying life will also be high; however, those involved in the tourist industry have realized that keeping prices low is a great way to attract more visitors year after year.  This means in addition to daily and monthly costs like groceries and bills (which are low since they are mostly priced for locals) restaurants, outings and other entertainment is well priced.

No Dirty Beaches – Cancun’s beaches are immaculate.  The city as well as hotels and restaurants that are directly on the beachfront invest in constant clean up, knowing that these white, soft-sanded beaches are their most important resource.  The pure Caribbean water is always ideal for swimming in.

No Difficulty Getting Back Home – If you’re worried about travel to and from home, or anywhere else in North and even South America, it’s hard to do much better than Cancun. The international airport is the best connected in the Caribbean, and the second busiest in Mexico.  Direct flights leave daily to major locations throughout North America, and discount airlines offer very low prices.

No High Crime Rate or Insecurity – The Yucatan Peninsula is the safest part of Mexico, and actually has lower crime rates than many places in the U.S.  Those who move to Cancun from the U.S. often feel surprisingly safe and comfortable in their new home!

Unfortunately, if you were looking for any of the items listed above, you might be disappointed with Cancun.  Otherwise, it might just turn out to be your paradise!
