Mexico real estate is a market which offers many nice surprises and undiscovered gems.  One property type within Yucatan real estate that could qualify as a “best kept secret” is that of Yucatan land for sale.  The following are some of the attractive features of this option.

Prices

While Yucatan (the state where the beautiful colonial city of Merida and the Mayan Pyramids of Chichen Itza are located) has become popular for visitors and a number of expats, the area’s real estate market is still firmly “local” as opposed to being primarily geared towards foreign buyers; for this reason prices are still low, even by Mexican standards. This applies to beachfront lots as well as to larger countryside parcels of land ideal for hobby farms or simply private estates.  Lots can also be found within the city of Merida.  The cost of building homes is surprisingly low.

Warm Weather, Nature and Beaches

The state of Yucatan enjoys warm weather all year round.  Outside of the large (and beautiful) city of Merida, the state is defined by beautiful countryside, small farms and plenty of lush, green jungle.  Along the north of the state are beautiful beaches with warm Caribbean water that can be enjoyed even in the middle of “winter.”  The Yucatan Peninsula is also home to a unique geological feature known as “cenotes” which are natural, fresh-water pools at the entrance way to the area’s underground cave and river system.  Many of these are ideal for snorkeling and are very refreshing on a hot summer day.

Easy Access

The Yucatan Peninsula offers 2 major international airports – Cancun and Merida.  Both offer close access to all parts of the state of Yucatan; a lot 3 hours away from an airport would be very “isolated.”  Good roads and highways also offer excellent access to most parts of the state, also making easy to get to the city and its services.

Modern Services

Large international supermarkets, state-of-the-art hospitals, professional golf, malls, movie theaters, sports complexes, good phone service and high-speed internet are just some of the modern services that residents will enjoy after building their home in Yucatan.

Buying a lot and building a home in Yucatan is a very affordable way of enjoying an ideal balance between Mexico’s beautiful climate and rich culture and a comfortable, modern lifestyle, ideal for retirees, vacationers and anyone fortunate enough to relocate to a warmer, more affordable place to live!
