You know that real estate in Mexico is inexpensive; but last time you were down on vacation and checked out the price of a beachfront property, even though it was 1/4 of the price it would be back in the U.S., it was still too high for your budget.  Here’s some good news; there are regions of Mexico where you can enjoy a comfortable, modern lifestyle, but still own a property directly next to the sand of the beach.  The following are a few regions you could consider cheap Mexico beachfront lots that offer this balance.

Campeche – This area is located on the west coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, along the Gulf of Mexico. While the beaches do not offer the turquoise water of the Caribbean, they still are very enjoyable, and beautiful, with a beautiful emerald coloured water and soft sand.  The area to consider for beachfront real estate starts just south of the city of Campeche, which is a beautiful colonial city, with its historic downtown surrounded by fort walls to protect against pirate raids.  It also offers modern services like a good hospital and a Walmart.  Lots along the beachfront running south of the city can be found with electric, water, phone and even high-speed internet service.  The prices are also surprisingly low.  There are good signs that this will emerge as the next big tourism hotspot on the Peninsula.

Costa Maya – Costa Maya has a small but steady stream of tourism from cruise ships and the odd vacationer wandering down from Cancun.  It also has a very small, but close-knit expat community.  On the beachfront roads, you are more likely to have to stop for goats crossing the road than for traffic or even a stop sign.  Prices for lots (or even condos or homes) directly on the beach are excellent; the area offers a lifestyle that is truly off-the-beaten track; modern services are available 1.5 hours away in Chetumal, or a few more hours away in Cancun.

Oaxaca – While communities like Huatulco on the southernmost state along Mexico’s Pacific Coast are very little known, they are said to be some of Mexico’s finest beaches.  Modern services are beginning to exist, and a new super-highway connecting to the capital in the state’s interior will offer good access to those that already exist.

These three areas are excellent options for low-priced beachfront lots where Americans on a more limited budget can have their dream home built and live comfortably in paradise.
