You can’t make a final decision on a property until having seen it in person.  While this means that when buying real estate in Mexico, you will need to make a trip (or two) down to select your property, there are excellent tools available online that will greatly increase the number of great property options you identify before actually investing time and money to travel down.  This will increase the chances that on your first trip down you will be able to make a choice.  These are a few of those tools.

Mexico Real Estate User Accounts

One of the most frustrating things that happens to buyers searching over the internet is that they find good properties and later lose track of them; or they end up going through the same listings several times to check if there’s anything new.  User accounts allow the buyer to save property listings and set up e-mail alerts to let them know directly in their inbox when a new property is listed that meets their criteria.

Mexico Real Estate Blog

A good blog written by leading professionals in Mexico’s real estate industry is a very useful tool; besides information about lifestyle and events, these blogs will also offer tips on what to look for in a property in Mexico (factors like construction and location have to be considered differently,) how to buy safely and what’s happening with the various markets.  They will also offer spotlight listings that experienced professionals feel are a good buy for some reason or another.

Real Estate Deal Listings

Prices in Mexico are low, but anybody likes a bargain when they can get one.  There are special listing sections dedicated to showing only price reduced properties. Likewise, notifications can usually be set up for these; this makes it easy for buyers to find a great deal, and increases the chances that they will be the first to know when a price is dropped.

Regular, But Good Listings

Finally, we can’t forget about just plain, regular listings.  However, it’s important to look for features like thoroughness, good pictures, videos and maps.  Some listings will also include Google Street View so buyers can give themselves a self-guided virtual tour.

These tools will make searching at a distance easier, and increase the number of good properties that a buyers will find before investing in the trip down to Mexico; they will also increase the likelihood of finding a better deal than normal!
