Americans and Canadians thinking of buying a Mexico home in the Pacific coast area have several excellent options in areas with a good deal of activities to enjoy as a part of day to day life. Among them, La Paz on the Baja California peninsula presents an solid combination of excellent real estate, warm weather and lifestyle to match the relaxing culture of the area.

La Paz real estate offers homes ranging from less than $70,000 USD for a simple, but comfortable home, slightly back from the beach, but still very near to conveniences, up to $500,000 for something in a more up-scale neighborhood next to the beachfront, and anywhere upwards from there depending on the amount of luxury, the view, etc. Good properties can be found in La Paz for just about any budget, all offering the relaxing lifestyle and convenience the city is famous for.

The lifestyle here is defined by many options for involvement in the community, as well as many events, activities, attractions and places to visit. One way in which expats enjoy being in contact with the local culture is through the purchase of local handicrafts. Many traditional artists sell their work in various locations in the city, including markets, shops and little booths.

A recent program has promoted the production of traditional handicrafts using both natural and recycled materials, with the objective to transmit these century-old skills to new generations. Such programs give the expat population the benefit of having access to real, authentic work from the area, and not just the generic sort of crafts sold in every tourist destination. Buying these kinds of crafts is the strongest support which can be shown for the traditions.

Another way in which expats can get involved is through sports clubs. Recently, the Baja California cycling organization made an effort to reorganize itself in order to better promote the activity as an official sport in the state. Of course, it's not at all necessary to join an organization to enjoy cycling in La Paz, and, with many great places to enjoy cycling, the activity provides and ideal way to enjoy the area's diverse natural beauty.

Other activities range from scuba diving, to golfing or sailing; many organizations also provide more official ways of getting involved. Once you've found the ideal spot for your new home in La Paz, you can decide how much, and in what way you want to be involved; just as with the homes you can choose from, there are many options.
