While in Cancun real estate, condos tend to be the favorite, there are also many excellent options for buying a Mexico home in Cancun. While the majority of homes are in the city of Cancun, as opposed to the Hotel Zone which gains most attention from tourists and condo buyers. Homes in the city of Cancun can provide several advantages, however, including:

Close access to shopping

While the hotel zone is famous for its large malls and modern shopping, the downtown area also includes numerous malls with large stores, and access to day to day goods, and much more, and low prices. Downtown offers many restaurants and cafes to enjoy.

Lower prices

Prices in the city itself tend to be more accessible than in the hotel zone. For a buyer on a budget, this is a choice between a condo with the luxury of being right next to the beach, or a larger home, not close to the beach, but with many conveniences, and a yard.

Convenient Neighborhoods for walking around

The neighborhoods downtown can sometimes provide a more suitable situation for relaxing strolls. While in the hotel zone, everything tends to be strung out along a longer distance, in town little restaurants, cafes and stores will probably be within a shorter walking distance; you will also have a more homes to walk past and streets to walk through directly in your vicinity.

Close to beach (north of the city)

The hotel zone is actually not the only beach option. At the north of the city, Cancun homes can be found just across the street or a block or two away from the beachfront. Of course, properties closer to the beach will have higher prices again.
