If you are like most people who buy Cancun real estate, you will spend most of the time during your search (and even buying) process back in your home country.  Fortunately, there are some excellent tools available to help you in your Mexico real estate search from just about anywhere else in the world.  The following are a few of those tools.

Cancun MLS Listings

This is always a good place to start.  Thorough, well-organized listings will allow you to see what’s out there, getting a feel for the market, seeing the variety in beachfront condos or downtown homes and reviewing prices, comparing them to your budget.  Good listings will allow you to search by your own criteria (property type, price, size, etc.) and offer features such as photo galleries, maps and sometimes even videos for each property description.  This will give you a good head start, and you can do it from the comfort of your living room, or during a free moment at work.  It’s also fun …

Blogs, Articles, Etc.

It’s also worth educating yourself right from the beginning.  There are well-written blogs, prepared and edited by real estate professionals that offer information about buying in Mexico, the differences in the purchasing process, living Mexico, economy & tourism, events and lifestyle.  These will help you get ready for life in Cancun while you look for that property.  You can also find tips for what to look for in a beachfront condo, special deals and much more.

Mexico Real Estate E-Books

There are also e-books that focus especially on buying safely the first time around.  Cancun is a very well established market for expat buyers, but at the same time reading information from top professionals in Cancun’s real estate industry will help you know what the process is like, what you should look for, and what you should avoid.  Some very well-written e-books are available online, for free, downloadable in just a couple of minutes.

An Experienced Agent

Your agent will be your most important resource.  After you’ve got a feel for the listings and started reading up on some of the ins and outs of buying Cancun, an experienced, professional agent will be able to start sending you property suggestions by e-mail so you can review options selected by a pro on site, according your specifications.

Using these tools, it may be surprising how smooth the process of searching for a property in Cancun can be from another country.
