Tulum real estate is a growing and exciting market, currently the third “boom town” in the Riviera Maya, after Cancun and Playa del Carmen.  While land has been the most popular real estate type among those seeking to cash in on the growth, a large number of new developments have brought condos up to a close second that look like they will soon overtake lots for sale.  Prices are still very accessible and some of the best locations are currently offering pre-construction units.  What’s more, there is a growing rental demand with increases in tourism and currently there is very little supply; those who buy now will have an upper hand.

This leads buyers to the question; which location is best to find a Tulum condo for sale?  While the final answer depends heavily on purpose and needs, the following locations are excellent places to begin a search and find a good condo.


Downtown Tulum is quaint Mayan town blended with a bohemian lifestyle atmosphere.  Those who buy condos in town itself will enjoy a walk-everywhere lifestyle, with restaurants, cafes, galleries, local markets and handicraft shops all just around the corner.  The town itself has high tourism appeal as well, and shows promise as the center of the newest hotspot in Mexico real estate.

The Beach Road

There is one short road connecting the town center to the beach.  While there are very few condo developments right on the beach (most of it is protected) there are very nice new master developments that have trendy village centers of their own and offer upscale condos, often a walk away from both the town center and the beach.  Biking is also a favorite in Tulum.

Nearby Resorts

Nearby nice resort complexes with golf courses, restaurants, ritzy beach clubs and a full range of tourism activities offer condos for sale as well, where residents can really live like they’re on vacation every day of the year (or whenever they get the chance to travel down.)


Akumal real estate is often grouped together with Tulum; however, it is distinct in that it is a small, ecological village directly on the sand of the beach. Beachfront condos with views and direct access to the beach are available.  While Akumal will not be seeing the growth and increase of services that Tulum will, it is only a 10 minute drive away, and the quiet village setting is appealing to many!
