Everyone knows the first three rules of real estate – location, location and location.  The big location factor Bambu Residencial in Playa del Carmen is that unique combination of a quiet, spacious and very green community with very direct and convenient access to a large shopping mall only a walk away.

Bambu Residencial is very green, very quiet and spacious.  The community has many trees, ample designated park space with walkways, benches and playgrounds for children – great for families, dog owners or anyone who just enjoys walking around.  In the community you’d imagine that you’re miles away from everything.  But you’re not.

Walking out of the community, the city’s largest and nicest mall is virtually across the street.    Because of the layout, the sound of traffic coming and going simply doesn’t factor into the quiet community lifestyle.

The items closest to Bambu – even before the parking lot – are a modern, professional carwash (really convenient for any car owners) and Playa del Carmen’s only bowling alley, which opened just in 2012.

At the closest entrance there is an OfficeMax offering all the same high-quality electronic equipment, stationary and office supplies that residents would expect in their home country.

At the same entrance there is a movie theater with the largest screens in Playa del Carmen, and full modern surround sound.  American movies area almost always played in English with Spanish subtitles.  Movie lovers will not be disappointed by the quality of the sound or screen size! The newest movies will come out a little later than in the U.S., but do not take long in being released.

Down just past the middle of the mall there is very large supermarket (think something like a Walmart Supercenter) that will cover all needs, offering fresh fruit and vegetables, meat, dairy, clothes, shoes, yard and household items, kitchen supplies, furniture, etc.  There is also a delicious fresh bakery, as well as hot meals ready to enjoy, for take-out or to be enjoyed at the tables in the store.  All of this is offered at Mexican prices, of course!

At the far end of the mall, next to the highway, there is store similar to Costco or Sam’s called CityClub.  It does not have quite the same variety of items, but prices are low and quality is high.  Right across the highway (at a traffic light) there is an actual Sam’s Club as well.

At this same end of the mall is a food court with an Italian coffee shop, and the usual mix of Mexican, Chinese and American-style foods.

The entire mall is also filled with shops of all sorts, ranging from collectable and decorative knickknacks to appliances and furniture.  There are also good shoes and jewelry, combining high-quality Mexican products with American and European stores as well.

A point of real convenience is that outside the mall, along the parking lot there are several of Mexico’s major banks, including Scotiabank, Bancomer and Banamex.  This same strip has several cellphone shops and vets.

Centro Maya mall offers all the basics of day to day life plus more.  Residents of Bambu Residencial can find all practical items they need here.  Of course, we can’t forget that downtown and the beautiful beaches are only about 10 minutes away!
