As of February 27, 2011, the fifth annual Mayakoba Golf Classic had officially been completed; what does this mean for new Playa del Carmen condos in this particular area?

In addition to some general links and benefits, there are also some very specific developments this year. These include the following:

Golf has been central in forming the area's lifestyle atmosphere. The area currently has 13 excellent golf courses, and more are on the way. At the focal point of the area's golf culture has been "El Camaleon," the course which has hosted the Mayakoba Golf Classic for its five years of existence. The course was designed by Greg Norman; another new course about 5 minutes away is designed by Nick Price, and includes residences named after the famous golf-course designer. The area immediately surrounding Mayakoba, at the north end of Playa del Carmen, is currently emerging as Playa del Carmen's new top upscale area. Condos in this area are still well priced, but offer a high level of lifestyle and comfort.

The success of the event is leading to further expansion. Not only is the Mayakoba resort complex expanding to a new area in both hotel and residential development, but it is also planning a new professional golf course, designed by Greg Norman and Mexican golf champion, Lorena Ochoa. This will continue to work with the nice resorts and other golf courses to develop the area's image as one of the top upscale choices in Playa del Carmen.

Residents can enjoy great golf. Besides just bringing more investment and developing the image of this area of Playa del Carmen, courses like "El Camaleon," the new Nick Price course, the new Mayakoba course, and many others in the region offer residents the best golf to be found in Latin America.

For those who enjoy golf, there could hardly be a better choice in a Playa del Carmen condo near the beach; even for those who don't play golf will enjoy the benefits of living in a nice community with an excellent image and a very relaxing lifestyle.

As for the tournament itself, if you follow golf, you may be interested to know that it was won in "sudden death" by Johnson Wagner, after a tie at 267 strokes with Spencer Levin. Also participating in the tournament as a special guest for the first day was the Mexican champion Lorena Ochoa (who will be designing the new course).
