When buyers choose Mexico real estate on the Pacific Coast, there are a number of excellent options available.  Among these are Puerto Vallarta real estate and Mazatlan real estate.  Both of these combine Mexico’s historic charm with the beautiful Pacific landscape and modern conveniences, but in distinct ways.

Puerto Vallarta is the flagship of Mexico real estate on the Pacific coast.  In the first half of last century, it was little more than a fishing village nestled between the Sierra Madre Mountains and the wide sandy beaches stretching out along the Bay of Banderas.  Around 50 years ago, a small expat community had already been forming near the old town when Hollywood discovered Puerto Vallarta’s potential, filming several classic movies there, and bringing Richard Burton’s and Elizabeth Taylor’s famous romance into existence.

Since then, Puerto Vallarta has grown incredibly with an ever stronger reputation for quaintness, romance and, most recently, modern comfort and luxury.  Real estate in Puerto Vallarta does, indeed, combine these three aspects in a way rarely found anywhere.  Residents can enjoy a step back in time, walking through the traditional village-like setting of the old town, or the hilly, romantic streets of Gringo Gulch (the original expat community.)  They can also enjoy a walk past the shops, boutiques and restaurants of the boardwalk, or a drive out to one of the modern malls.  There are also several professional golf courses, an international airport and excellent hospitals.

Mazatlan, “The Pearl of the Pacific,” has been established as a city for centuries already.  The old colonial city center attests to the age of the city, and brings the community’s rich history into real life for current residents.  The colonial city was the place where a large number of 19th century immigrants from Bohemia created one of Mexico’s favorite beers (Pacifico) and influenced one of Mexico’s favorite styles of music, “norteno,” whose roots in their polka music can still be seen and heard with the presence of the accordion and base.

Real estate buyers in Mazatlan can choose between an old colonial home, either as a fixer-upper renovation project or as a fully restored beauty ready to live in, and modern beachfront condos.  Both are within walking distance of the other, since the city is located directly on the beachfront, so whichever buyers choose, they can enjoy the other part of Mazatlan quite easily.  Mazatlan real estate buyers can also enjoy modern malls and similar services.
