If you are considering a Playa del Carmen retirement, you may be wondering what life in this beachfront paradise means for you.   While each retiree will find their own special benefits, there are some items which are true for all, including the following.

Low-Cost Real Estate

Playa del Carmen real estate is very well priced.   A retiree on just about any budget can reasonably consider buying a nice property near the beach with amenities like nearby stores and restaurants, a pool, nicely landscaped gardens, terraces with nice views and a gym or spa (in the complex, in the case of condos, or nearby for homes.)

Low Cost of Living

Besides properties being well priced, the cost of living is also very low.   Many retirees feel they can live on about half of their budget back home.   Of course, some of the savings will go to enjoying life a little more, but this is the whole point.   Good health care is very affordable (less that 50% of that back home!) flights to and from your home country are low priced (especially for retirees who can usually travel on weekdays) and regular expenses like groceries and bills are noticeably lower.

Beachfront Relaxation

Of course, one of the primary motivations for choosing Playa del Carmen is the beachfront.   Playa del Carmen beachfront for sale is likewise well priced, but because of the layout of the city, excellent, even lower-priced properties a few blocks back have excellent walking, biking or driving access to the white, sandy beaches and warm, turquoise water.

High Quality of Life

Life is not only affordable, but high-quality.   In addition to the good healthcare already mentioned, entertainment like movies and golf are of international quality, and goods from the U.S. are readily available in a number of supermarkets.

Plenty of Friends

Playa del Carmen is home to about 15,000 Americans plus a good number of Canadians, many of whom are retirees.   In addition to many neighbors from back home, the local Mexican people are very friendly and welcoming.

Many Activities

Since Playa del Carmen is a tourist town, residents can enjoy sailing, fishing, diving, snorkeling, nature excursions and historic sight-seeing, among many other activities; since the cost of living is low, retirees can enjoy these items in that much more financial comfort.

Retirement in Playa del Carmen includes many other great lifestyle features.   These are simply the 5 that are most common to all who decide to retire in Paradise!
