Many Americans and Canadians would simply love to own land on the beachfront and have their dream home built; this is financially impossible in those countries, and many turn to Mexico. While prices in Mexico are MUCH lower, the price of a parcel of land on the beach in Mexico’s main tourist areas can still be a stretch for the average North American.  The good news is that there are ways to find nice Mexico land for sale on the beach in a decent location for a good price.  The trick is to find a less known location that already has the benefits of smaller-scale tourism.

Two such locations on Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula are Campeche real estate and Costa Maya real estate.  Both share the following features which make them ideal for finding good beachfront land at a good price.

Still Less Known

Both locations are among the lesser known areas of the Yucatan Peninsula.  Costa Maya is several hours south of Cancun, and Campeche is “across” the Peninsula, just southwest of the beautiful colonial city of Merida.  While some tourists definitely visit these locations, it’s still not common to find people who know about them.  For finding well-priced beachfront land, this is ideal.  Being off the international radar means that prices are still “local,” i.e. much lower than they are in places where competing buyers from around the world have already pushed prices up.   Many buyers are also simply happy with the quieter lifestyle.

In a Growing Tourism Area

On the other hand, both are part of Latin America’s most important tourism super-region – the Yucatan Peninsula.  While people still talk about certain specific regions on the Peninsula, it’s becoming more and more clear that the entire area is emerging as one large tourism area.  “Buds” of tourism can already be seen, meaning some of the benefits are already there.

Basic Modern Services

Both places include basic modern services; a good international airport is always within a few hours.  There is good road access, even along “abandoned” beachfronts.  High speed internet and reliable phone service are in place.  There are restaurants, large stores and tours available.  Good, modern healthcare also exists very nearby.

While the land on the beach is still very low priced (even in Mexican terms), buyers can enjoy a comfortable warm-weather lifestyle with the basics of modern life close at hand.  For many people, this really is a dream come true!
