Tulum real estate has recently celebrated an important landmark with its second anniversary of becoming a separate municipality. As the recovery from the recession is seen along the Mexican Caribbean coast, Tulum real estate buyers have the benefit of being at the center of a group of healthily-recovering tourism economies.

About an hour and a half north of Tulum, Cancun real estate finds itself enjoying the benefits of the Mexican Caribbean's flagship tourism destination. Cancun and the nearby Playa del Carmen have recovered quickly from the slow down in tourism which the recession brought in 2009, and many of these returning tourists are showing a recovering interest in buying real estate either for vacations or to re-locate to what's considered one of the most beautiful beachfront areas in the world.

Across the strait from Playa del Carmen, Cozumel real estate is also home to one of the Caribbean's favorite cruise destinations and the associated investment drawn to the area. The island has been made home port to a major cruise operator's (Pullmantur) cruise lines in the area, meaning that an increased number of visitors will be extending their stays on Cozumel after the cruise has ended. Many of Cozumel's real estate buyers first fall in love with the island as cruise visitors. A few hours south of Tulum, Mahahual on Costa Maya has been enjoying a similar recovery in cruise activity and renewed interest in real estate purchases.

At the center of these areas, real estate Tulum is very promising for investors, vacationers and others planning on re-locating to a warmer climate on the beachfront. As a new municipality, Tulum has plans for a new international airport underway, a well-developed urban growth plan, and a great deal of potential for a growing tourism industry. Especially when the new airport begins operation, tourism areas at the south of the state, including Costa Maya, are expected to gain more attention, placing Tulum at one of the most privileged locations of the Mexican Caribbean.
