For 2010 the state of Quintana Roo's Visitors Bureau (which includes Cancun, Cozumel and Playa del Carmen) is promoting the area with a project called "Treasures of Cancun and the Caribbean." With Cancun at the focus of the project, island destinations such as Cozumel and Isla Mujeres will be included as well as Puerto Morelos, near Playa del Carmen. The program is bringing attention to key attractions in the area, including food, fashion, adventure, ecology, and many others. While the promotion focuses on tourists, these same attractions add a strong appeal to life in the area for real estate buyers.

Although Cancun Real Estate is situated in a very modern, convenient setting, it is in close proximity to nature. Besides the beautiful beaches and the many beachfront activities available, such as diving or boating, nearby on the island of Holbox, lush ecosystems combine of charm and relaxing nature. On a weekend trip, Cancun real estate owners can enjoy contact with the world's largest fish, the whale shark. Also near Cancun, the island of Contoy is home to about 250 fish and 150 species of birds. Isla Mujeres boasts more than 480 years of history and is an island of fishermen that offers a picturesque landscape, adding to its attractions Caribbean warmth and modern sophistication.

Also nearby is Boca Iglesia, a community of just 26 inhabitants, which is accessible only by sea and is recognized in the region for magical feeling. One place where visitors get a sense of the villages mystical past is the old church, in ruins, located in the middle of a large swamp.

While visitors to Cozumel love the island for its world-famous diving in the Mesoamerican reef, the largest in the Northern Hemisphere, and the rich natural beauty, which includes extensive vegetation and fauna, for home owners this close contact with nature becomes a part of a day to day lifestyle of relaxation. On this island, real estate often has a natural touch, with many residents preferring and eco-friendly lifestyle.

In the Playa del Carmen Real Estate area, one town of interest is Puerto Morelos, which is the oldest port in Quintana Roo. While Cancun is known for its luxury high rise condos, Playa del Carmen and the surrounding area, known as the Riviera Maya, loved for their small town atmosphere, with quaint houses, low-rise condos and a European-like style.
