Playa del Carmen Real Estate - Retirement on the Beachfront or in a Gated Community?

If you are considering a Playa del Carmen retirement, you may have come to the point of choosing your exact location. While Playa del Carmen beachfront for sale tends to be one of the favorites, there is also Playa del Carmen real estate in other excellent locations, such as gated communities.  Consider the following advantages of each of these two main options to help you choose.

Beachfront Properties

Everyone dreams of retiring on the beach, and there’s nothing like living in condo directly overlooking the white sand and turquoise water of one of the world’s most beautiful beaches.  You can wake up in the morning, and go out for a relaxing walk on the warm sand, or enjoy a cold drink with the same splendid view, right from your home.

Most beachfront locations in Playa del Carmen are also very close to many amenities.  Downtown, for example, you will be able to walk to Fifth Avenue – a popular street for shopping and dining – or to the local Walmart.  In resort communities, the beachfront properties often have the closes access to club houses, golf courses and other amenities. Retirees often enjoy the comfort of being within walking or biking distance to amenities.

Beachfront properties also offer the best rental potential for retirees who hope to generate income on their property during times they are not using it.

Gated Communities

Gated communities back from the beach, on the other hand, tend to offer that very quiet lifestyle that many retirees look for.  There are plenty of these in Playa del Carmen, and reduced traffic combined with 24-hour manned security and bylaws offer an exclusive, secure and quiet lifestyle.

A number of these gated communities also include golf courses; Playa del Carmen has been named the golf capital of Latin America, because of the number of the courses (there are 9 in the area, as well as one across the strait on the island of Cozumel,) the quality (many are designed by big names like Nick Price), and the events, such as the PGA Mayakoba Golf Classic.  This offers retirees nice games of golf, all year, as well as adding to the exclusivity and atmosphere of the neighborhood.

Gated communities back from the beach also tend to offer very accessible pricing – often noticeably lower than direct beachfront locations.  This is also an important factor as more and more retirees are considering life on a more limited budget.

Whichever you choose, your retirement in Playa del Carmen will be nothing short of the Paradise you imagine – perhaps even above and beyond.
